The automatic glass breaker is spring-loaded to automatically deploy when pressed firmly against a vehicle’s side or rear window. The safety-blade seat belt cutter quickly frees both the driver and passengers from their seats if their seat belts do not unlatch after a vehicular accident. When not in use, the blade is housed securely within the casing to prevent either accidental or intentional cutting. Both the glass breaker pin and safety blade are made of high-carbon steel for maximum durability.
Not only can BodyGard be used in vehicle emergencies, it can also be used to signal for help or to ward off attackers when walking, biking and hiking. With the push of a button, its sonic alarm signals trouble with a high-decibel output. Its bright, flashing red distress light is also push-button activated to signal for, and direct help to, your location. The high-intensity flashlight can be used for night sight and safety.
BodyGard is also impact-resilient and water-resistant, with a tough ABS construction and a limited lifetime warranty. It comes complete with a replaceable A23/12V battery and instructions for care and use.

]]>The HPFU pants are a quick-drying, rip-stop NYCO of 70% cotton and 30% nylon in which the weaving process instills a no-melt, no-drip property that limits the severity of flame caused injuries. The pant’s adjustable waistband is padded for increased comfort when wearing fully-loaded tactical belts. Other benefits of the HPFU pants include comfort, durability, ease of accessing pockets when seated, and increased mobility. The integrated knee pad pockets (pads sold separately) have cinch straps on the back of the knees to stabilize knee pads and externally mounted guide loops are integrated on the outside of the knee pad for the wearing of knee pads outside the pant pad pockets. The pants also feature the I.T.S. system of four life saving tourniquets integrated into the legs. The I.T.S. system is easy to access and can be managed with one hand for immediate stoppage of blood flow loss.
The HPFU jacket is a “Tuxedo Cut” which is shorter than standard jackets and tapered at the waist allowing easy access to belt mounted items. Four I.T.S. tourniquets are integrated into the arm area of the sleeves and can be quickly and easily accessed by the wearer or a teammate for life-saving application. The jacket also features integrated elbow pads (pads sold separately) and hook and loop mounting points for ID patches.
The HPFU combat shirt is designed to provide the wearer with less bulk under body armor. Made from 49% Modacrylic and a 51% cotton performance blend the shirt torso is comfortable, breathable, moisture-wicking, fire-resistant, and has an anti-microbial finish. Four I.T.S. tourniquets are integrated in the raglan sleeves. A zippered mini-mock collar allows for ventilation. The HPFU vest can be worn over the combat shirt for a full jacket look or for added warmth and protection. The vest has a “Tuxedo-cut” waist line for easy access to belt mounted items and has hook and loop mounting points for ID patches.

]]>This decision follows a rigorous four-month evaluation and reflects the Army's commitment to giving soldiers in Afghanistan the most effective concealment possible.
Soldiers deploying to Afghanistan this summer will receive fire resistant Army combat uniforms in MultiCam, along with associated equipment including body armor, rucksacks, and helmet covers.
The Army's selection of MultiCam for soldiers in Afghanistan culminates phase III of a four-phase plan to thoroughly and deliberately evaluate camouflage alternatives.
The Army took action in fall 2009 to provide two battalion-size elements in Afghanistan with uniforms and associated gear in patterns other than the standard-issue universal camouflage pattern (UCP). One unit received uniforms and gear in MultiCam, and the other in a variant of UCP known as UCP - Delta.
In addition, the Army deployed a team of experts to Afghanistan in October to gather extensive data and photos on the diverse environments of Afghanistan, where soldiers often travel through multiple environments in a single mission, from snow to woodland to desert.
The Army incorporated the information gathered into a photo simulation study it then administered to nearly 750 soldiers who had deployed to Afghanistan. The study asked them to compare six patterns against eight different environments. The results, along with surveys of soldiers in the two battalions who received alternate camouflage, formed the basis for the Army’s decision on MultiCam.
The Army will now implement phase IV of its plan for camouflage, which is to evaluate long-term Army combat uniform camouflage options for all soldiers.
Camouflage alternatives represent one facet of the Army’s ongoing efforts to improve the Army combat uniform. The Army has made more than 26 improvements to the ACU since it was first fielded in June 2004.
